About MAIA MURPHY

Maia Murphy moved from Colorado to New York in 2004 to pursue a career in the arts, which has included appointments in the Production Department Creative Time and the Education Department of The:Artist:Network. After earning a BA in art history from Barnard College of Columbia University, she spent several months in Istanbul, where her writing and photographs about the local contemporary art scene were published in both print and online media. She currently coordinates a number of public cultural projects, including helping organize classes for The Public School New York and online outreach for Elders Share the Arts, while continuing her own artistic practice. Since 2010, she has enjoyed supporting the creation of new works and opening the process of studio practice to public examination and experimentation as the Program Manager for Recess Activities.
